Ear reconstruction after removal of a squamous cell carcinoma with maintenance of the Darwinian tubercle. Like many things, the devil is in the details, and here you see the results of a helical rim advancement flap maintaining a key and unique detail of the ear called the Darwinian tubercle (arrow).
His tumor was first removed with Mohs micrographic surgery to ensure the smallest defect possible and microscopically clear tumor margins, which is extra important in a high risk location such as the ear.
