How do you continue evolving in your field?
By embracing the “Next Level” mindset. You need to have an innate drive and obsession for improving patient outcomes and the overall patient experience. This requires meticulous attention to detail, self-criticism, reflection, multidisciplinary study, and innovative research. I focus on incorporating longevity-based and regenerative medicine practices into facial cosmetic surgery and aesthetics to create pre- and post-recovery optimization protocols.
What sport, workout, or discipline shaped your mindset the most?
Surfing. To me, the surfer’s mentality is a metaphor of opportunities, or “waves.” It has taught me to be present in the moment and enjoy the ride, while acknowledging that the ride will eventually come to an end. And, when it does end, you know that more waves will eventually come. However, it’s what you do during the interim, until your next wave, that’s most important. You must be patient, position yourself strategically, and be ready to catch the wave when it comes. When you go for it, be adaptable and resilient during the ride.
What does “next level” mean to you?
Never accepting cruise control and complacency. A deep understanding that there are always ways to improve. It’s the conviction that every process, technique, outcome, and patient experience can be refined. “Next Level” gives me the mindset of an ever-reaching goal, something to pursue, while still being ultimately unattainable, just out of reach. This motivates me to continue pushing boundaries to deliver the best results and experiences to my patients.
What’s your go-to way to unwind after a long day?
A quick workout, a great meal, a catch-up with the people I love, and a light comedy.
What’s something about you that might surprise your patients?
I grew up in Oklahoma and, for some reason, started wearing cowboy boots only this year, but I still dislike country music. Maybe that will change?
